Review, Restate, Tieback

Much easier than it sounds, this is the concluding paragraph of the essay.  This paragraph generally has three components:  review, restate, tieback.

The review is merely a restatement of the preview.  It can be a sentence as simple as:

"After having examined, Atom Ant, Scooby Doo, and H.R. Pufnstuf, you can see that there were three cartoons that were critical to my development as a human."  (Notice that in this example, the review is combined with the restatement of the thesis).

The restatement is simply a restating of the thesis.  It may be combined with the review.  The tieback is a couple of sentences which remind the reader of the Attention Getting Device and show that you are done.  For instance, if the attention getting device had been:

"When I was a kid, I lived for Saturday morning.  For it was then that my heroes came to life for me on a tiny black and white television set. . . "

The tieback could be as simple as:

"So, the next time you see a kid with their face parked only a few inches away from the television watching cartoons, don't yell at them to go outside; let them be with their heroes while they are still young enough to have them."
