Writing assignment for Poetry

Now that you have read all of the assigned poetry, your task is simple:

1. Pick your favorite of the poems listed.  By favorite, I certainly do not mean the shortest.  What I mean is the one poem which had the greatest impact upon you as you read it or listened to it being read.  Which poem hit closest to home or stirred up the most emotion?  Did one make you angry?  Sad?  Did one of the writers make you yearn for a lost love?  These are the kinds of impacts you will want to write about. 

2. Write a three to five (body) paragraph essay explaining why you feel that particular poem is the best.  Address such issues as symbolism, metaphors, setting, point of view, and how the author used the language figuratively to evoke images and emotions in you, the reader.  Be sure to fully develop arguments and to include quotations from the poetry to bolster your arguments in each body paragraph.
