Body Paragraph Construction

Each of your body paragraphs must be a strong part of your overall argument. Toward that end, each paragraph should contain the following:

For Example: This paragraph is written for an essay whose Thesis/preview read as follows:

"My public image differs from my private self in that in public I appear more self assured, friendlier, and happier."

This is how the first paragraph could look:

In public, I appear to be much more sure of myself than when I am in private (paragraph thesis). By "sure of myself" I mean confident and ready to handle any and all situations. (Definition of key terms). When I am at home and alone I afford myself the luxury to be nervous, worried, or concerned about critical situations, conflicts, or new experiences that I may soon have to face. Yet, when I am in the public's eye, I feel I must be calm, cool, and confident regardless of the situation I must face. I was raised to function like this, and I have always acted in this manner (discussion). A good example of this happened when my Grandfather died. I received the news while I was on the air during a television newscast. My upbringing automatically kicked in. I kindly thanked the messenger, gritted my teeth, and finished the hour long newscast with a professional smile. However, only when I was driving home, and finally alone, did I allow myself to lose my composure (concrete example). So, you can see what I mean when I say that, in public, I am a different person than in private (link to thesis).

That's it. But this is only a skeleton. Feel free to fully develop your ideas for your essay.
