Subject: Progress Report on the Litterbox Assignment
Purpose
This memo reports the progress I have made on the Litterbox Assignment during the fiscal year 1996-1997 which ended 6/30/97. This memo will articulate the work that has been completed to date, what remains to be accomplished, and problems encountered.
Work Completed to Date
As of this time, I have managed to locate the scooper (see technical specifications, appendix 1) and have begun initial analysis of the composition of the litter box filler (which shall be referred to as "litter" hereinafter). The analysis data includes information on replacement costs and labor costs of implementing replacement.
Work to be Accomplished
Before excavation of the litter, it is evident that we will have to contact the Environmental Protection Agency to conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment. Our Engineers fear that removal of the litter from it's biologically neutral container (hereinafter referred to as the "litter box") would allow the rampant spread of viral and bacterial pathogens. Until this is completed, no excavation of the litter box may safely proceed.
Problems
In addition to the need for an Environmental Impact Analysis, my team has encountered several problems. The most pressing of these is simply the fact that your suggestion "holding our noses" is not a satisfactory solution to the smell of the litter box. No one in the team can approach the litter box without suffering violent physical reactions. We also need answers to the following questions: (1) Does out health insurance cover death by gaseous toxins?; (2) What will we replace the litter with?; and (3) Where will the used litter be stored?
